Passing on success

Siebel Elektronik has developed successfully since it was founded almost 25 years ago. As managing director and co-owner, I am happy and grateful for this. I see it as my personal responsibility and duty to pass on some of this success to people who, for various reasons, are having a harder time in life.

Managing Director

Two of these projects that we have implemented are located in Shunga, in the west of Tanzania.

Pine forest

Between 2017 and 2019, we worked with local people to plant pine trees on an area of around 30 hectares near Shunga. Where there were only a few bushes and grass, there is now a lush forest. The villagers are impressed by the beautiful forest, which remains green even during the dry season. The project has encouraged the villagers to plant trees in their fields. This reduces soil erosion and the crops benefit from the shade provided by the trees.

PV system with battery storage

There is also an Anglican hospital in Shunga, which has been expanded and modernised in recent years with support from Europe. Siebel Elektronik GmbH supplied an energy system for this hospital, consisting of a solar system and a battery storage unit. This enables the hospital to operate independently of the grid. The diesel generators, which used to run daily, are now kept only as an emergency reserve.

Both projects help local people, but also have a positive impact on the climate:

  • The growing forest binds CO2 and removes it from the atmosphere.
  • By replacing diesel generators, a lot of CO2 is saved.
